Desert Animals
Our guides will introduce you to some of the most fascinating, hidden life in this apparently barren landscape, among which are a few endemic species.
The Sidewinder (Peringuey’s Adder) who sails sideways over the dunes, the Palmato Gecko (Pachydactylus rangei) with its transparent skin and beautiful colours, the black Parabuthus villosus scorpion, whom you may see running across the plains, the Namaqua chameleon (Chamaeleo namaquensis), known to be the fastest chameleon on earth, the Shovel-Snouted Lizard (Meroles anchietae) who may dive into the dunes slip-face when he sees you and the FitzSimons‘ burrowing skink (Typhlacontias brevipes), a legless lizard, to name but a few.

The Namib is NOT about what you see. The Namib is about what you DON’T see.
